What we're working toward
navanpet.com is built with the goal of meeting WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We haven't completed a full third-party audit yet, so we don't claim full conformance — but the standard is what we measure against, and the bar we hold new work to.
What we've done so far
Specific improvements already in place:
- Full keyboard navigation across nav, product pages, cart, and checkout — plus a "skip to main content" link on every page.
- Semantic HTML and ARIA labels for screen readers (tested with VoiceOver and NVDA on the highest-traffic pages).
- Color contrast checked against AA thresholds for body copy, buttons, and form fields.
- Descriptive alt text on product imagery; decorative images marked as such.
- Visible focus states on every interactive element, never removed in CSS.
- Form labels tied to inputs, with inline error text rather than color-only signals.
Where we know we're still short
A few areas we're actively improving: motion-reduction support on a couple of animated sections, alt text on older journal-post images, and a fuller audit of color-contrast on hover and disabled states. We track these openly in our internal backlog and chip away each sprint.

We respond within two business days and treat accessibility reports as priority bugs, not feature requests.
Tools we test with
VoiceOver (macOS, iOS), NVDA on Windows, keyboard-only navigation, the built-in Chrome and Safari accessibility audits, and axe DevTools for automated checks. Manual audits cover what tools can't catch.
