The founding moment — at our kitchen table

chapter one

One vet bill that didn't make sense.

In 2023, our seven-year-old chihuahua, Bee, needed a full dental cleaning. The estimate was $1,200. The vet said it was routine. The vet was right — and that was the problem.

The treats we'd been buying had "dental health" on every bag. Some had ingredients we couldn't pronounce. All of them had starch. None of them were working.

So we started reading. Talked to canine dental specialists. Looked at what wild dogs actually chew. What we learned was simple and frustrating: the industry built a category around the appearance of dental care, not the mechanics of it.

Single-ingredient. Slow-dehydrated. That was it.

The science kept coming back to two principles: real animal tissue scrapes plaque mechanically, and a rotation of proteins keeps the gum line stimulated across the whole mouth.

So we built it. Single-ingredient chews — rabbit ears, rabbit stick, duck neck — slow-dehydrated to preserve nutrients and the chew texture that does the work. No fillers. No flavor sprays. No glycerin. No starch. Just the protein.

Bee got the first one. We watched her chew it for forty minutes. She came back the next day looking for another. Sixty days later, her vet rescheduled the cleaning for "whenever you want — her teeth look great."

chapter three

2,400 dogs and counting.

We started shipping in late 2024 with a single bundle and one promise: single-ingredient chews, no exceptions. A small community of small-dog owners found us first. Their dogs liked the chews. Their vets noticed.

Today, more than 2,400 dogs are on the navan protocol. We've added a second bundle for larger dogs. We've added single-protein subscriptions for the picky. The promise hasn't changed: one ingredient per bag. Never anything else.

Bee is ten now. The protocol is part of her morning. We hope it becomes part of your dog's, too.
